The Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan participated in the UN Tourism Minister’s Summit in Germany

The theme of the Summit, “Empowering Emerging Destinations: From Potential to Performance,” was dedicated to transforming the potential of emerging tourism destinations.

The Summit served as a high-level platform for tourism ministers of UN Tourism member states to exchange practical experience and develop strategies to ensure sustainable industry growth, economic returns for countries and regions, and the preservation of cultural and natural heritage.

Key discussion areas included enhancing tourism governance and removing interagency barriers, attracting investment, strengthening human capital and skills development in response to labour market changes, reinforcing public-private partnerships, and diversifying destinations to increase resilience and competitiveness.

The Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, A. Akkulov, took part in the Summit. In his speech, he informed participants about the reforms being implemented in the country’s tourism sector, strategic investment priorities, measures to develop regional destinations, and efforts to create a favorable institutional environment for sustainable industry growth. Particular attention was paid to engaging local communities, modernizing infrastructure, and improving the quality of tourism services.

The Summit’s international significance lies in fostering coordinated approaches to tourism development amid the industry’s global transformation. ITB Berlin traditionally brings together leading global tourism stakeholders, while the ministerial format helps advance solutions aimed at long-term growth, investment sustainability, and strengthening tourism’s contribution to national economies.

Such meetings lay the groundwork for deeper international cooperation, stronger policy coordination, and the exchange of best practices, helping to build a more sustainable, inclusive, and competitive global tourism system.
