President of Uzbekistan outlines priorities for the Board of Peace’s work on the Gaza Strip

The event, chaired by US President Donald Trump, was also attended by the heads of delegations from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Bahrain, Indonesia, Argentina, Paraguay, Romania, Egypt, Qatar, Pakistan, Hungary, Albania, Armenia, Vietnam, Cambodia, the UAE, Türkiye, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Morocco, and other states.

Issues of reconstruction and humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip and ensuring peace and stability in the region were discussed.

In his address, the President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to the U.S. President and Chairman of the Board of Peace Donald Trump, for convening the first summit.

It was noted that Uzbekistan supported the peacekeeping initiative to establish the Board of Peace, firmly expressing its intention to take a practical part in its successful implementation.

“I am confident that the Board’s work will create a favorable condition for the economic and social restoration of Gaza,” stated President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It was emphasized that any mechanism of external governance for Gaza must rely on the domestic support of its population.

Confidence was expressed that the coordinated efforts of all parties would ensure the sustainability of the post-conflict process and create conditions for the swift recovery of Gaza.

The Head of state announced Uzbekistan’s readiness to make a meaningful contribution to the construction of residential buildings, kindergartens, schools and hospitals in the Gaza Strip.

“Our meeting is a vivid manifestation of international solidarity, peacebuilding and a common aspiration to improve the situation in the Middle East. We need to take this historic opportunity to create a New Gaza with a thriving economy and decent living conditions for its population,” the President noted.

Other heads of state and government, as well as foreign ministers and senior officials, also addressed the meeting.

Following the meeting, a Declaration on support for the activities of the Board of Peace was signed.
