At the beginning of the talks, both sides particularly noted the significance of large-scale investment projects being implemented in Uzbekistan under the Belt and Road Initiative, in particular the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway, as well as wind power projects implemented jointly with ACWA Power.
It was emphasized that the support provided by Silk Road Fund in financing the Samarkand Tourist Center has elevated Uzbekistan’s tourism infrastructure to a new level. Today, this complex has become one of the largest MICE venues in Central Asia, successfully hosting prestigious international summits, UN Tourism and UNESCO General Assemblies, as well as major business forums.
During the meeting, the concept for developing tourist road corridors in Uzbekistan was presented. In particular, discussions focused on promising projects to establish modern service centers along routes from Andijan to Karakalpakstan, as well as from Tashkent to Termez. The parties considered opportunities to introduce advanced Chinese experience in roadside infrastructure development in Uzbekistan.
It was also noted that the projects planned for implementation in the country will contribute to further strengthening cultural and tourism ties between the two states, increasing tourist flows, and developing tourism service infrastructure in Uzbekistan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides emphasized that the tourism sector is an important driver of the movement of people, capital, goods, and services, and expressed readiness to elevate mutually beneficial cooperation to a new stage.
