At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary-General noted that the initiatives put forward by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during her visit to Uzbekistan in April this year had been identified as priority areas of activity.
During the negotiations, the parties agreed to elevate cooperation between Uzbekistan and UN Tourism to a qualitatively new level, expand the scope of joint projects, and strengthen collaboration in strategic areas of tourism sector development.
Following the meeting, the parties signed a bilateral Protocol of Intent on Cooperation. The document provides for the development of cooperation in sustainable tourism, the promotion of new tourism destinations, the advancement of tourism along the Great Silk Road, and the accelerated development of the tourism education system.
